Do not select a washing programme from a photograph or the appearance of a stone. The useful question is not only “which stone?” but “on which fabric, with which application?”
There is no universal instruction
The original garment label is a starting point. Added embellishment may introduce new restrictions. Ask whether the final care advice covers the entire finished piece.
Clarify the cleaning method
Find out which washing, professional cleaning, ironing and stain-removal methods are approved. This guide does not prescribe a temperature, detergent or dry-cleaning method.
Discuss storage and transport
Ask the maker about folding, hanging and preventing embellished surfaces from rubbing together, for your particular piece.
If you notice a loose detail
Consult the maker before improvising with glue or heat. Describing the problem and previous care helps the assessment.
